Points

UNDER CONSTRUCTION

This section contains the index for all the points of interest that you are now required to learn on the knowledge. Every point is accompanied by a map, which when clicked, will open Google maps to show the location of where you would leave or set down that point. Any specific leave or set down information for tricky points will also accompany those points.

Points are sorted into post code area to make it easier for you to add points to your bike lists. If you are searching for a specific point, use the page search tool (ctrl + F - Windows / Command + F - Mac / “Find in page” - browser menu on mobile) within the relevant index to type in the point you are looking for and press enter. The find tool will locate all points containing the search term entered. For example, if you just enter the search term “Paddington”, the find tool will locate all points with “Paddington” in their names, for example Paddington Station, Hilton Hotel Paddington, etc; within that particular index.

Alternatively, you can use the website search bar in the site header to search anything on the website, including points.

Helpful Information

The following information is quoted in part from the Knowledge of London Points List - Edition 1 - February 2025 - Download the Official Document Below

“The list contains just over 6000 ‘points of interest’. These points will be asked on all Knowledge of London assessments including Stage 1 and 2 exams, as well as Stages 3-5 Knowledge of London appearances. Points will include places such as theatres, hotels, restaurants, as well as streets, roads, and squares.

Please note: any additional points of interest added to future editions will be highlighted yellow to help candidates identify changes. These places of interest will remain yellow for one edition. Candidates will have a calendar month to familiarise themselves with the additional points before being asked them during assessments. For example, if a new restaurant was added on 1 April it could then be asked in assessments from 1 May onwards.

As of Monday 10 February 2025, Knowledge of London candidates will only be asked points of interest from the list during assessments. If a candidate is asked a question which is not noted on the list, they should notify us within five working days by emailing TPHKnowledge@tfl.gov.uk.

Useful information

While learning aids are a useful resource and can be helpful (e.g. books, videos, paper-based or digital maps, apps or any other kind of navigation system), practical knowledge is essential; you can only get this by physically visiting the points on the list yourself.

Some points may cross over into two postcodes e.g.: Westbourne Grove. These points will not be doubled up and noted in two separate post code lists. When learning streets, roads, squares etc candidates should familiarise themselves with the whole road and not just the section that appears in one postcode.

When visiting a point of interest candidates should note all possible pick up and drop off locations. For example, stations and hospitals often have multiple entrance and exit points.

An examiner may specify that they wish to go to the A&E entrance of a hospital. Another example is theatres, which have a main entrance and often a separate stage door entrance which a passenger may want to be dropped off at.

Curiosity Points

From Stage 4 Appearances onwards, candidates may be asked points on the list of ‘Curiosity Points’ noted within this document. This list contains some unusual and historical points which are useful for cabbies to know.

Points outside the 6-mile radius

From Stage 5 Appearances onwards, candidates may be asked points on the list of ‘Points outside the 6-mile radius’ noted within this document. This is a list of major points of interest, such as All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (Wimbledon Tennis) which fall outside of the 6-mile radius candidates are currently tested on.”
